Ian Machado Garry’s prediction of a finish within eight minutes might not have materialized but his dominant performance against Neil Magny at UFC 292 undoubtedly left a lasting impression. Garry extended his undefeated record with a commanding unanimous decision victory over the welterweight veteran in their pay-per-view main card bout at TD Garden in Boston.

Garry’s display of striking prowess was evident from the opening bell as he utilized a barrage of leg kicks to dictate the pace of the fight. Within the first 30 seconds, Garry showcased his precision by dropping Magny twice with calf kicks setting the tone for the contest. Throughout the fight, Garry showcased an elite level of striking that left Magny struggling to find his footing.

Garry’s offensive onslaught continued in the first round. He effectively utilized leg attacks and striking combinations to maintain control of the octagon. He demonstrated versatility by mixing leg kicks with punches to the head and even secured a takedown through a clinch with less than two minutes remaining in the round.

The second round saw Magny attempting to mount a comeback, as he briefly found himself in a rear-body-lock clinch position. However, Garry quickly shifted the momentum back in his favor with a renewed focus on leg attacks. The consistent pressure from Garry kept Magny on the defensive for the majority of the round.

Throughout all three rounds, Garry’s striking precision and effective leg kicks kept Magny on the backfoot. Garry’s control of the fight led Joe Rogan to describe Magny as being in “survival mode” for the duration of the bout. Notably, Garry even engaged in trash talk to further assert his dominance and psychological advantage over his opponent.

Following his commanding victory, Garry did not hesitate to set his sights on the next challenge. He called out Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. A renowned striker in the division expressing his desire to prove himself as the best striker in the world. Garry’s ambition was evident as he stated. “To be the best striker in the world, you need to beat the best strikers in the world. Give me Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.”
