Colby Covington is super excited to bring some action to the highly anticipated Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) return to Madison Square Garden in New York City at UFC 295 on November 11, 2023. The main event of UFC 295 is going to be huge. Heavyweight champion Jon Jones is returning to make his first title defense in the heavyweight division against former two-time titleholder Stipe Miocic.

UFC President Dana White spilled the beans about the possible Edwards vs Covington fight at UFC 295. Covington is thrilled about this idea and is eager to get back into the Octagon. But he’s not so sure about his old college buddy Leon Edwards showing up for the fight.

Speaking on Chael Sonnen’s YouTube channel. Covington said, “I think this is going to be a big deal in ‘The Garden.’ You know, they keep talking about this 30th-anniversary show. So what better way than to give them the gift of our fight in Madison Square Garden for their 30th-anniversary celebration in New York?

Covington continued, “They gotta fill up that card. They can’t rely on Jon Jones, you know? He’s not so dependable. He’s been in trouble before, and who knows what he’s up to. So, they should have me, Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington, as their insurance policy. After all, I’ve got the fourth-highest gate in arena history at Madison Square Garden!”

Covington is 35 years old and had his last fight at UFC 272 in March 2022. When he won by unanimous decision against his former friend-turned-rival Jorge Masvidal. But since then, he’s been dealing with some legal issues due to an assault case involving Masvidal. Covington made a comeback in March 2023 when he became the backup fighter for Leon Edwards’ trilogy with former champ, Kamaru Usman.

There must be something wrong on Leon’s side,” Covington said. “Maybe he’s hurt or busy, I don’t know. Maybe he needs more time to get ready to face ‘Chaos.’ But trust me, this fight is happening. They won’t put this in Abu Dhabi; it wouldn’t make sense. At the latest, it won’t be pushed back beyond December in Vegas. If it does, he might get stripped of the title.

Everyone is hoping for the official announcement of the Edwards vs Covington showdown. It’s going to be an epic battle and a highlight of the historic event at Madison Square Garden!
