After the grass court Grand Slam, Zidansek took part in a number of competitions but really struggled to make it count.
Tamara Zidansek’s 2022 season has been far from ideal so far. The 24-year-old Slovenian fell to a shock first round defeat against Panna Udvardy and that is where her problems seemed to just begin in the recent past. After the grass court Grand Slam, she took part in a number of competitions but really struggled to make it count. At the Ladies Open Lausanne, Zidansek was ousted in the first round by a much lower-ranked Anna Kalinskaya. She then took part at the Granby Championships where she could only go as far as the second round before being eliminated by 10th seed Marta Kostyuk. The US Open will be the tournament where Zidansek hopes she can write some sort of a redemption story.
The Slovenian’s campain will kick off against home favourite Elizabath Mandlik. The American has been in fine form leading up the the Grand Slam. She participated in the ITF USA 37A competition last and reached the final where she was defeated by top seed Zhu Lin. Before that, Mandlik was a part of the Silicon Valley Classic where she reached the round of 16 before being beaten by second seed Paula Badosa.
Tamara Zidansek and Elizabeth Mandlik are scheduled to face one another in the first round match of the US Open 2022 on Monday, August 29 at 10:30 pm IST.
