Caroline Garcia is a professional tennis player from France. In both singles and doubles, she has been ranked in the top five. Garcia is a two-time major doubles champion, having won the French Open women's doubles title with Kristina Mladenovic in 2016 and 2022. The pair also finished second at the 2016 US Open and advanced to the semifinals at the 2017 Australian Open. Garcia achieved her career-high doubles ranking of world No. 2 in October 2016, and she has won seven WTA Tour doubles titles, including the 2016 Madrid Open. She has also qualified for the WTA Finals twice and was named the 2016 WTA Doubles Team of the Year with Mladenovic.

Garcia is also an accomplished singles player. She has ten WTA Tour singles titles to her name, including three at the WTA 1000 level: the 2017 Wuhan Open, the 2017 China Open, and the 2022 Cincinnati Open. In September 2018, she achieved her career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 and advanced to the WTA Finals semifinals. Garcia has been representing France in the Billie Jean King Cup since 2013, and she was a member of the team that won the championship in 2019. In 2016, she received a Fed Cup Heart Award for her role in leading France to its first Fed Cup final in eleven years. She has also represented France at the Olympics twice.

Junior Career and professional debut

Garcia reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon as a junior, as well as the finals of the US Open, where she lost to Grace Min. On December 12, 2011, she attained her highest junior ranking of 5. In her first appearance in the main draw of a WTA tournament, she earned a wild card and beat Varvara Lepchenko in the first round at the Australian Open that year. Garcia entered the French Open as a wildcard. She faced Zuzana Ondraskova and won in straight sets. She led former No. 1 Maria Sharapova 6-3, 4-1 in the second round but was eventually defeated.

Senior Career

Garcia won her first WTA Tour singles title at the Copa Claro Colsanitas in Bogota, Colombia, defeating defending champion and former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic in straight sets. She has ten WTA Tour singles titles and seven doubles titles. Her most notable singles victories are the Premier 5 Wuhan Open and the Premier Mandatory China Open, both in 2017, and the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open in 2022. She has won two Grand Slam doubles titles at the French Open in 2016 and 2022, as well as one Premier Mandatory Madrid Open in 2016. Garcia reached the world No. 2 doubles ranking on October 24, 2016, and the world No. 4 singles ranking in September 2018.

She also made the quarter-finals of the French Open in 2016 and the semi-finals of the Madrid Open in 2018. She reached the quarterfinals of the 2014 Madrid Open and Wuhan Open, the 2017 Canadian Open, and the 2018 WTA Qatar Open, Italian Open, and Canadian Open. In 2017, she advanced to the semi-finals of the year-end WTA Finals.

Parents

Caroline Garcia’s parents are Louis Paul Garcia and Mary Lene Garcia. Garcia was born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Yvelines, but moved to Bron, a Lyon suburb, with her family shortly after. [4] She is the sole child of Louis Paul, a former sales manager from the Spanish Costa Blanca region. Louis Paul was his daughter’s trainer until 2021.
