Wang Qiang is a tennis player from China. She has two WTA Tour singles titles, one WTA 125 singles title, and 13 ITF Circuit singles and one doubles title. Her best major tournament performance came in 2019, when she reached the quarterfinals of the US Open. Wang reached her highest singles ranking of world No. 12 on September 9, 2019, becoming the second-highest ranked Chinese tennis player in history after Li Na. Wang is one of only five Chinese tennis players to have reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament, joining Li Na, Zheng Jie, Peng Shuai, and Zhang Shuai.

Wang was born in Tianjin, China. She began playing tennis at the age of nine. That same year, she was named the Tianjin National Tennis Center’s promotion player. She won the China Junior Tennis Championship two years in a row (2006, 2007). In 2007, she began touring the ITF Women’s Circuit in Japan for the first time. She was a main-draw player at the AOAO Sports charity event ‘Fiji Tennis Invitation Classis’ [FTIC] created by Ademola Oduwole on Denarau Island in Fiji in February 2010 to promote girls’ sports. She won the $2,000 purse and a $4,000 Chris Aire watch donated by the Hollywood Luxury watch designer by defeating Christina Visico of the Philippines in the finals.

She made her Grand Slam main-draw debut from the qualifying tournament at the 2014 US Open, defeating Paula Kania of Poland in the first round 6-2, 6-0 before losing to Australian Casey Dellaqua in the second round. Wang’s best results in 2016 came at Grand Slam tournaments, where she advanced to the second round of the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open. She also competed in singles at the 2016 Summer Olympics, but lost to two-time major champion Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round.
