Despite having won only won WTA singles title in her career so far, American tennis player Jessica Pegula has been one of the most consistent in the world for some time now. She achieved her highest career singles ranking of seventh in July 2022. Pegula is a known face in Grand Slam quarter-finals, having appeared in the last eight of the Australian Open and French Open. She is a prolific doubles player as well with four titles, and a current ranking of eighth with compatriot Coco Gauff. Pegula and Gauff made it all the way through to the final of the 2022 French Open. She has also won seven ITF doubles titles.

At the 2021 Australian Open, Pegula achieved significant success by defeating 12-seed Victoria Azarenka, Kristina Mladenovic, Samantha Stosur, and fifth-seeded Elina Svitolina to advance to her first Grand Slam quarterfinal. She fell to fourth seed Sofia Kenin in the third round of the French Open in June, when she advanced for the first time in her career. In 2021, Pegula defeated Karolina Pliskova for the fourth time in a row to advance to the quarterfinals at the German Open in Berlin. She consequently rose to the top 25 on June 21, 2021. She beat Anhelina Kalinina, Bernarda Pera, Nuria Parrizas Diaz, and fifth seed Maria Sakkari in the 2022 Australian Open to get to her second straight quarterfinal at this major. Ashleigh Barty, the eventual winner and world No. 1, defeated her in the quarterfinal encounter.

Jessica Pegula is the daughter of Terry and Kim Pegula. American entrepreneur Terry Pegula has a net worth of about USD 7 billion. Owning both the NHL team Buffalo Sabres and the NFL team Buffalo Bills, he is the owner of Pegula Sports and Entertainment. Terry, a self-made billionaire, used USD 7,500 to launch his first business, a drilling operation for natural gas. His wealth skyrocketed after a deep deposit of natural gas that benefited his company was discovered. Later, he sold his assets, generating around USD 5 billion in profit.

Along with her husband, Kim Pegula serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres as well as Pegula Sports and Entertainment. She also serves on the NFL’s Super Bowl committee and its business venture committee.
