With a victory against Aleksandra Krunic in straight sets on Wednesday in the second round, world no. 35 Aliaksandra Sasnovich advanced into her fourth quarterfinal of the year. The fourth-seeded Belarusian defeated the Serb 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 20 minutes. After trading breaks early on, Sasnovich took control of the set by breaking the Krunic twice more. Krunic, who finished second at the Hungarian Open, broke early to take a 1-2 lead in the second set. But Sasnovich bounced back, winning the following five games straight to win the match and move on to the final eight. The Belarusian had earlier this year at the Melbourne Summer Set advanced to her third WTA final of her career, but she lost to Amanda Anisimova and was left without a championship.
On Wednesday, world no. 72 Maryna Zanevska defeated qualifier Alexandra Cadanţu-Ignatik in straight sets to go to the quarterfinals. The 28-year-old Belgian rallied twice in the opening set after falling behind by a break before earning the crucial third break in the tenth game to take the match to love. In the second set, Zanevska broke early, but Cadanău-Ignatik broke back immediately afterward, eliminating the lead. However, Zanevska quickly regained the lead and ended the match by winning the final four games to claim a 6-4, 6-1 triumph. Zanevska, who advanced to the quarterfinals in Strasbourg as well, entered the competition after a five-match losing skid. However, she interrupted the unbeaten streak with a comeback victory over Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova in the first round.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Maryna Zanevska will take on each other on Thursday, July 21 in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 WTA Hamburg European open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 17 and conclude on July 23 this year.

The 2022 Hamburg European Open will have five rounds of play both for the ATP and WTA competitors. These are the first round, second round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 18 to July 24, but the qualifiers will commence from July 16 for both the men’s and women’s categories.
