Home favourite and 29th seed Tommy Paul will kick off his 2022 US Open campaign against Bernabe Zapata Miralles in their first round match. Paul was quite impressive at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, going all the way till the round of 16. After that, he reached the quarter-final of the Atlanta Open where he was beaten by Ilya Ivashka. The American suffered a first round loss to Nick Kyrgios at the Citi Open. He also suffered an early exit at the recently concluded Cincinnati Masters when he was eliminated in the round of 32 by Denis Shapovalov. However, the 25-year-old did quite well at the Canadian Open, going all the way to the quarter-finals before being ousted by am experienced Dan Evans.
Bernabe Zapata Miralles has been in fine form of late. He recently participated at the ATP Challenger event at Meerbusch where he beat Dennis Novak 6-1, 6-2 in the final to win the title. He also beat the likes of Sumit Nagal, and Clement Tabur en route to victory. Before that, the Spaniard had reached the quarter-final of the Croatia Open where he was beaten by Giulio Zeppieri.
Tommy Paul and Bernabe Zapata Miralles are scheduled to face one another in the first round match of the US Open 2022 on Monday, August 29 at 8:30 am IST. The 2022 US Open is all set to begin from August 29 till September 11.

The 2022 US Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final for both men’s and women’s. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 29 and conclude on September 11 this year.
