Alex Molcan has not been in good form recently and has been on a losing run for the last couple of months and he will be motivated to have a change of fortune in the first match of the new year. He has been losing the tournaments he has played getting knocked out right in the first rounds. He lost to L. Đere right in the first round of the Maharashtra Open, he also got knocked out in the first match in the previous two competitions: to J.J. Wolf in the Stockholm Open and to R. Gasquet in the Paris Masters. after winning the first two matches against Schwartzman and Bailly. In the Swiss Indoors, he made it to the round of 16 stage losing to Rinderknech after beating McDonald in the first match.
Quentin Halys has been in decent form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of any of the major tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic in the Adelaide International 1 a few days ago at the round of 16 stage after beating Thompson in the first round. In the Paris Masters, he lost to Basilashvili in the round of 64 stage after beating Monteiro and Cachín in the first two qualifiers.
