Adrian Mannarino has not been in good form recently and has been on a losing run for the last couple of months and he will be motivated to have a change of fortune in the first match of the new year. He has been losing the tournaments he has played getting knocked out right in the first rounds. He lost to Rublev in the quarter-finals after winning the first two matches in the Astana Open. In the next three tournaments, he got knocked out right in the first rounds against Cachín, van de Zandschulp, and Hurkacz in the Tennis Napoli Open, Swiss Indoors, and Paris Masters respectively.
J.J. Wolf also hasn’t been in great form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of any of the major tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to Khachanov in the Vienna Open after winning the first two matches against Fucsovics and Miedler. In the next tournament before this at the Stockholm Open, he got knocked out right in the round of 16 stage to Alex de Minaur after winning the first match against Alex Molcan. He would be desperate for a win as he looks to build the momentum he has been wanting for far too long now.
