Constant Lestienne also hasn’t been in great form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of any of the major tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to Rinderknech in the Swiss Indoors in the second qualifiers stage after beating Bellier in the first qualifier. In the Paris Masters, he lost right in the first round to Ymer, and in the recent Adelaide International 1, the outcome was the same as he bowed out right in the first match to Novak Djokovic. He beat Pedro Cachin in the first-round matchup with the score ending 6-3, 6-1.
Gregoire Barrere has been in average form and he will be motivated to have a change of fortune in his second tournament of the new year. He got knocked out of the Adelaide International 1 right in the qualifiers round to Hijikata. He lost to Arnaldi in the Italian Challenger Bergamo in the round of 32 stage. He won the French Challenger Brest before that which will give him much-needed confidence. Despite that, he has made it from the qualifying rounds having beaten Coria and Lazarov in the ongoing ASB Classic, and will look to extend that massive run of form. He beat John Isner in the first-round matchup with the score ending 7-6, 6-7, 3-6.
