In the second round of the ATP Adelaide 2, Karen Khachanov defeated Marc-Andrea Huesler 6-4 6-4 in straight sets by creating six breakpoint opportunities on his big-serving serve and converting three of them. The former Russian No. 1 has played two quarterfinal matches at the venue since coming in second to Gael Monfils in the first leg of the ATP Adelaide in January 2022, and he lost both of them to Arthur Rinderknech in the second leg last year and Daniil Medvedev in the first leg last week. The 26-year-old had his best season since 2018 last year. He had a number of successful top-level performances throughout the year, including a semifinal showing at the US Open, and he eventually climbed back into the top 20.
Jack Draper has started the new season competing in ATP events, riding the wave of his successful run on the main tour in the second half of 2022. He has done quite well so far. In the past two weeks, he has defeated Soon Woo Kwon, Lorenzo Sonego, and Tommy Paul in straight sets. His only defeat came at the hands of Karen Khachanov in the second round of last week’s tournament, 4-6 2-6. During the grass swing of last year, the former Boys’ Wimbledon runner-up made his first semifinal appearance in an ATP event in Eastbourne. He then followed that up with a few more impressive performances at the Montreal Masters and ATP Next Gen Finals.

Karen Khachanov has a 2-0 lead.
