On paper, Jabeur should not have much difficulty in getting the better of Rybakina but nothing can be predicted with certainty.
It has been a long and arduous journey to the final of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships and the last two women standing are Ons Jabeur and Elena Rybakina. The Tunisian tennis player beat German tennis player Tatjana Maria in the semi-final to book a place in the penultimate stage of the Grand Slam. The score-line at the end of the tie was 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 in Jabeur’s favour. The Tunisian had been seeded third in the competition after her successful exploits at the Berlin Open and the Madrid Open earlier. On paper, Jabeur should not have much difficulty in getting the better of Rybakina but nothing can be predicted with certainty.
As far as Rybakina’s road to the final goes, she had a relatively more challenging journey. The Kazakh had to go up against veteran Simona Halep in the semi-final and came out with flying colours. The score at the end of the tie was 6-3, 6-3 in favour of Rybakina in what was a dominant performance. This has been the 17th seed’s best performance in any competition in the recent past and she will be hoping to get the best out of it.
Ons Jabeur and Elena Rybakina are scheduled to face each other on Saturday, July 9 in the women’s singles final of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10.
