Hubert Hurkacz has not been in good form recently having lost three of the last five matches he has played. He will look to bounce back in style by picking up a win against his much-depleted opponent and building confidence that he has been lacking. He lost against Coric in the Vienna Open after winning the first two matches against Ruusuvuori and Tiafie. He lost to Thiem in the quarter-final round of the European Open after winning the first match against Draper. In the Paris Masters, he lost to Rune in the round of 32 after the first-round win against Mannarino.
Pedro Martinez hasn’t been in great form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of any of the major tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to Zapata Miralles in the Paris Masters in the first round and in the next tournament which was the Swiss Indoors, he got knocked out right in the qualifier stage to Daniel. After winning the first two matches against Baez and Ramanathan at the Maharashtra Open as he lost to Karatsev in the quarter-finals.
