Felix Auger Aliassime and Dusan Lajovic will take on each other in the round of 64 matchup of the 2023 Madrid Open on April 29.
Seeded 7th Felix Auger-Aliassime has been running at a blistering pace for the past few months and he will be adamant to perform well at the Madrid Open as well. At the Qatar Open, he played wonderful tennis to have a semi-final finish finally losing to Medvedev, and at the Australian Open, he made it to the fourth round losing to Lehecka in what was a four-set thriller. At the Indian Wells Masters, he made it to the quarter-finals stage losing to Alcaraz, and at the second round of the Miami Open, he bowed out losing to Cerundolo. At the Rotterdam Open and the Qatar Open, he made it to the quarter-finals and the semi-finals respectively losing to Medvedev on both occasions.
Dusan Lajovic has been playing in the ATP professional tournaments for like a few months now and he still hasn’t been able to make it out to the later stages of any of the competitions. He played at the Australian Open a few months back getting knocked out by Shapovalov in the first round. At the Cordoba Open, he was shown the exit door by Ramos-Vinolas in the round of 16 stage, and at the Argentina Open, he made it to the quarter-finals finally losing to the eventual champion Alcaraz. He shocked the entire world by lifting the Srpska Open beating Rublev in the final and also won the Maspalomas Challenger last year beating the likes of Steven Diez, Llamas Ruiz, Lopez Morillo, Andreev, and Chepelev. In the ongoing Madrid Open, he beat Kubler in the first-round matchup by 3-6, 3-6.
