The 19th seed went up against Cristina Bucsa in the second round of the Grand Slam and won by a score of 6-2, 7-5.
After ousting Naomi Osaka in the first round, US tennis player Danielle Collins has found some good form in the 2022 US Open. The 19th seed went up against Cristina Bucsa in the second round of the Grand Slam and won by a score of 6-2, 7-5. Collins hit five aces in the match and converted five out of 11 break points. She also recorded win percentages of 82% and 50% on the first and second serves respectively. Collins’ recent form has been disappointing. She was eliminated in the very first round of the Wimbledon Championships, following which she took part in the Ladies Open Lausanne. She was drawn against Iga Swiatek in the first round and could not manage to find a win. However, the American has been in good form so far at the US Open and she will be hoping to go deep into the Grand Slam.
Frenchwoman Alize Cornet began her 2022 US Open campaign with a bang. She beat defending champion Emma Raducanu in the first round by a score of 6-3, 6-3. Cornet would then go up against Katerina Siniakova and after hitting two aces and three out of six break points, won 6-1, 1-6, 6-3. She will be hoping to repeat the feat against a veteran like Collins, although it will be far from easy.
Danielle Collins and Alize Cornet are scheduled to face one another in a third round match of the US Open 2022 on Sunday, September 4. The 2022 US Open is all set to begin from August 29 till September 11.
