Cilic came agonizingly close to winning the Tel Aviv Open earlier this month as he reached the final but fell to Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-4.
Croatian tennis player and fourth seed Marin Cilic will kick off his 2022 ATP Swiss Indoors campaign with a first round match against France’s Arthur Rinderknech. Cilic came agonizingly close to winning the Tel Aviv Open earlier this month as he reached the final but fell to Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-4. He then took part in the Astana Open but could only as far the second round where he was defeated by Karen Khachanov. At Basel, the Croatian will be hoping to go deep into the competition and hopefully win the whole thing.
Rinderknech’s last competition was at the 2022 Gijon Open where he displayed a decent performance to make it as far as the semi-finals. He was defeated by Sebastian Korda in the last four but he pulled off a massive upset in the quarter-finals where he beat second seed Pablo Carreno Busta.
Marin Cilic and Arthur Rinderknech are scheduled to take on one another in the first round of the 2022 ATP Swiss Indoors on Monday, October 24. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 23 to October 30, 2022.
The ATP Swiss Indoors will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 24, 2022 and conclude on October 30, 2022.
