Seeded 1st Carlos Alcaraz has been the star kid that has got the whole world talking and he will be even more confident at the Madrid Open after his recent win at the Barcelona Open where he beat Tsitsipas in the finals. At the Swiss Indoors, he made it to the semi-finals losing to Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, and at the Miami Open, he lost to Sinner in the semi-finals missing out on yet another title. He was a huge success at the US Open after which he took a month’s gap from tennis. He beat Ruud in the final in what was a four-set thriller for the fans. In the Rio Open, he again made it to the finals but this time lost the title despite winning the first set of the match to Cameron Norrie who took revenge for his defeat in Argentina. He also won the title at the Indian Wells Masters beating Medvedev in the final.
Emil Ruusuvuori hasn’t been in good touch lately and has been losing all the recent tournaments he has played in. He will be adamant to make a change in fortune and perform well at the Madrid Open. He couldn’t make it to the later stages in most of his last tournaments, losing to Cressy at the Open Sud De France, and to Rublev at the Australian Open. He made it to the round of 32 stage of the Adelaide International 2 and got knocked out right in the first round of the Maharashtra Open to Bonzi. He made it to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open losing to Sinner and at the recently played Barcelona Open, he bowed of the tournament losing to Davidovich Fokina in the round of 16 stage. In the ongoing Madrid Open, he beat Humbert in the first-round matchup by 7-6, 7-6.
