Jenson Brooksby has not been in good form recently and has been on a losing run for the last couple of months and he will be motivated to have a change of fortune in the first match of the new year. He has been losing the tournaments he has played getting knocked out right in the first rounds. He lost to D. Shapovalov in the semi-finals after winning the first three matches in the Korea Open. In the next three tournaments, he got knocked out right in the first rounds against McDonald, Draper, and Humbert in the Firenze Open, European Open, and Swiss Indoors respectively. He beat Fabio Fognini in the first-round matchup with the score ending 6-7, 6-1, 6-3.
Diego Schwartzman hasn’t been in great form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of any of the major tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to Tiafoe in the US Open in the third round after winning the first two matches Popyrin and Sock. In the next tournament which was the Tel Aviv Watergen Open, he got knocked out right in the round of 16 stage to Rinderknech and it was the same result at the European Open as he lost to David Goffin in the same round. In the Vienna Open and the Paris Masters, he also got knocked out in the first round itself to Rublev and Cressy respectively.
