Sixth seed Irina-Camellia Begu will face French tennis player Diane Parry in the quarter-final of the 2022 WTA Palermo Open. Begu defeated Oceane Dodin in the round of 16 by a score of 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. The Romanian hit seven aces in the match and recorded win percentages of 59% and 64% on the first and second serves respectively. Begu had earlier defeated Marina Bassols Ribera in the round of 32 of the competition. The sixth seed had a tough outing at the Ladies Open Lausanne where she was eliminated in only the second round by Anastasia Potapova. She will be hoping to make amends in Palermo.
Diane Parry has had quite the impressive form at the Palermo Open so far. The Frenchwoman defeated second seed Yulia Putinseva in the round of 16 by a score of 6-3, 6-4. Parry made it till the third round of Wimbledon earlier this year where she was beaten by eventual champion Ons Jabeur. She then took part in the Ladies Open Lausanne but was eliminated in the first round.

The 2022 Palermo Open will have five rounds of play for WTA competitors. These are the first round, second round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 18 to July 24, but the qualifiers will commence from July 16 for women’s categories.
