Aryna Sabalenka has been quite provisional throughout the entire tournament picking up crucial victories en route to the semi-final. After receiving a first-round bye, she faced Liudmila Samsonova winning the match in straight sets and setting up a quarter-final matchup against Marketa Vondrousova. She was on the back foot in the first set but recovered well enough to seal the set. Sabalenka put a lot of pressure on Vondrousova which led to Vondrousova missing many service points. In the second set, Vondrousova had no answers to Sabalenka’s brilliance as the match ended in the favor of the Belarussian. Next, she faced Irina-Camelia Begu in the semis and beat her in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to progress to the finals of the Adelaide International 1.
Linda Noskova has been a great surprise this tournament as she has moved on from the qualifiers to the semifinals shocking a lot of stars on the way. She first faced Kalinskaya in the first qualifier and beat her to move on to the second qualifier matchup against Potapova. It was yet another massive win for Linda, as she progressed to the round of 32 stage and beat Kasatkina. She then faced Liu beating her in the round of 16 stage and setting up a quarter-final matchup against Azarenka fighting it out through three intense sets and finally beating her. Then said played Ons Jabeur in the semis and the match was intense as the pair battled it out in three sets with Noskova winning the match 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 to progress to the finals of the Adelaide International 1.
