23rd seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina hasn’t been in good touch lately and has been losing all the recent tournaments he has played in. He will be adamant to make a change in fortune and perform well at the Indian Wells. He couldn’t make it past the second stage mark in most of his last tournaments, losing to Halys at the Open Sud De France, and to Tommy Paul at the Australian Open. Cristian Garin has had a bad past few months and he will be adamant to perform well in the Indian Wells Masters as well. At the Australian Open and the Rio Open, he bowed out of the tournament in the first round itself to Korda and Martinez respectively. At the Cordoba Open and the Chile Open, he made it to the round of 16 stage losing to Sousa and Baez respectively. At the Noumea Challenger, he made it to the semi-finals losing to Brancaccio after beating the likes of Diaz Acosta, Fancutt, and Delaney on the way. In the ongoing Indian Wells, he beat Tien in the first qualifier by 5-7, 6-7, and then in the second qualifier, he beat Misolic by 6-4, 6-2. In the round of 128 matchup, he beat Galan by 4-6, 2-6 and he beat Nishioka in the round of 64 stage by 4-6, 0-6. In the round of 32 matchup, he beat Ruud by 6-4, 7-6.
