American swimmer, Nicolas Fink, is a multiple world champion, having won five titles under his belt, predominantly in breaststroke disciplines. He has set records globally in the short course 4×100 meter and 4×50 meter mixed medley relays. Additionally, he is a record holder for the Americas in the short course 50, 100, and 200-meter breaststrokes, and the national champion in the long course 50-meter breaststroke.
Achieving the World Short Course titles for the 50-meter breaststroke in both 2021 and 2022, Nic Fink consolidated his status in the swimming arena with a World Long Course title in 2022. His achievements in 2022 also include a gold in the World Short Course 100-meter breaststroke and a triumph in the 200-meter event in 2021.
Hailing from Morristown, New Jersey, and an alumnus of Pingry School, Fink’s Olympic dreams ignited early on in his life. His college years at the University of Georgia, beginning in 2010, marked the start of his decorated swimming journey. The year 2013 was a breakthrough year for the swimmer as he clinched the runner-up spot at the USA National Championships for the 100m breaststroke with a commendable time of 1:00.24. This performance led him to represent at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships in Australia, where he secured a silver in the 200-meter breaststroke with a 2:08.94 finish.
In the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru, Nic Fink showcased his prowess with a silver in the 200-meter breaststroke. He was also part of the 4×100 meter medley relay team, which broke the Pan American Games record, clocking 3:30.25. At the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in 2021, Fink solidified his position in the team by leading the US Olympic Team Trials in the 200-meter breaststroke. Although he delivered a sensational 2:07.93 in the Olympics’ 200-meter breaststroke final, he finished fifth.
The following year, during the 2021 International Swimming League, he broke the American record in the short course 50-meter breaststroke, registering a stunning 25.72 seconds. On October 19, Fink made his place in the team USA’s squad for the World Short Course Championships 2022 in Melbourne, Australia. In his first final of the event, the 4×50 meter mixed medley relay, he established a new WR of 1:35.15 and won the gold medal with a split of 24.96 for the breaststroke leg of the relay. The next day, he claimed his first title and the gold medal in the 100 meter breaststroke at a short course or long course World Championships with a time of 55.88s.

Melanie Margalis excels in freestyle, breaststroke, and individual medley disciplines. She is a prominent team member of the International Swimming League’s Cali Condors. Her journey began at Countryside High School, training under coach Fred Lewis at Saint Petersburg Aquatics. Her high school achievements include three state championship titles, with an outstanding record in the 200-yard individual medley. For four consecutive years, she received the MVP award.
In 2009, Margalis clinched the state title for the 500-yard free and was the 2009-2010 Pinellas County Female Athlete of the Year. She played an instrumental role in guiding the Georgia Bulldogs women’s team to NCAA Division I victories in both 2013 and 2014. She claimed the gold in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay and bronze in the 200-meter individual medley at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan.
At the Rio Olympics 2016, she clinched gold with the USA women’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay team. She further showcased her skills in various competitions, including the 2017 Winter Nationals, where she bagged three individual titles and shattered the Championship Record in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking 1:52.63. At the 2018 Pan Pacifics, her performance in the 400-meter IM earned her a silver with an impressive 4:35.60 timing. At the 2018 FINA World Championships (25 m) with another silver in the 400-meter individual medley, recording a personal best of 4:25.84.
