The Olympics in 2016 witnessed him winning silver, narrowly behind China’s Sun Yang in the freestyle 200m. However, he rebounded at the World Short Course Championships 2016 in Canada, setting new records. In 2017, Chad Le Clos defeated favorite László Cseh at the World Aquatic Swimming Championships. His Commonwealth Games 2018 performance in Australia left him just a medal away from an all-time record. In 2019, representing the International Swimming League, his team won the competition, with Chad earning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title in London.
