Jose Mourinho isn’t afraid to make provocative and absurd remarks, and it’s almost as if the AS Roma manager is envious of Juventus. Genoa held his team to a goalless draw Wednesday, and it was a disappointing game for him. Nicolo Zaniolo was sent off late in the game for dissent, which was one of the game’s highlights.

The striker thought he’d scored the game-winner, but it was overturned when a VAR review found Tammy Abraham had committed a foul in the buildup.

Zaniolo’s constant protests earned him a red card, and Mourinho was angry.

He stated that it would have been different if the 22-year-old had been a Juve player in his post-match comments.

Mourinho said, “Do you think if Zaniolo played for Inter, Juventus or Milan, the same situation would’ve developed? He hasn’t been given a penalty all season, he gets fouled constantly, he opens his mouth and is automatically booked. He’s had seven or eight yellow cards and two red, a creative player like Zaniolo.”

“Do you think that red card would’ve been given, for example, to Lautaro Martinez for Inter at San Siro? Or Giorgio Chiellini in the Juventus Stadium? Or Zlatan Ibrahimovic at San Siro?”

JOSE MOURINHO CAN’T STAY AWAY FROM CONTROVERSIES

Jose Mourinho is widely recognized as one of the most successful and divisive managers in history.

The ‘special one’ has won just much everything there is to win in a career spanning nine clubs and more than 20 years, with many league titles and Champions League trophies to his name, as well as a reputation for being a spendthrift.

Mourinho is, without a doubt, the most vocal and controversial manager in Serie A at the moment.

Jose Mourinho says that referees treat Nicol Zaniolo and Roma differently following the red card for dissent. ‘Do you think this happens to Inter, Juventus or Milan?’

During the 0-0 tie with Genoa, Zaniolo was the center of attention after scoring what would’ve been the game-winning goal in the 90th minute, only for it to be disallowed after an on-field VAR review of Tammy Abraham’s tackle on Johan Vasquez.

The Italian then continued his protestations before being arrested for disobedience.

Mourinho continued to argue in his news conference that if the Abraham challenge was ruled a foul, football is a totally different sport than the one he is used to.

On DAZN, he also stated that Roma are not given the benefit of the doubt since they are “small in the eyes of the powerful” in Calcio.
