Fiji will take on Italy in the Rugby World Cup at Kingston Park (Newcastle) on October 22. Jake Maizen scored his first World Cup Rugby League hat-trick with Italy, playing their first international match in three years, producing a superb display of teamwork to keep hopes of progressing to the Round. 16 finals with a 28-4 win over Scotland. Brown, who played for Parramatta in this month’s National Rugby League Finals, qualified for Italy thanks to his mother. He spoke proudly of his pride in representing the Azzurri and produced an impressive display of captaincy here as Italy proved too strong for Scotland. The result means that, with both teams now facing matches against Australia and Fiji, Scotland’s hopes of breaking through Group B are over. Italy, meanwhile, will view their meeting with Fiji on Saturday as the match that could decide who comes in second behind Kangaroo. Italy deserved a 12-0 lead after halftime. They broke the deadlock with the efforts of Luke Polselli, before a poke from half-model Dean Parata doubled the lead. It then took them just four minutes after restarting to extend that advantage, as Maizen took their first win of the afternoon.
