The fifth day of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 doesn’t have as many medal events take place that feature Indian athletes. But it will still be an action packed day. The day begins with the women’s hockey team facing Great Britain. The focus then shifts to badminton, with PV Sindhu in women’s singles action. Archers Tarundeep Rai and Pravin Jadhav will take part in the men’s individual archery event. Besides that, India will see rowers and sailers in action too. Catch the live action from the day here. After starting the Olympics on a high note with weightlifter Mirabai Chanu winning a silver medal in the women’s 49kg category, Indian athletes have struggled to add to their medal tally.

More than the medals, the lack of athletes qualifying for the final rounds of their respective disciplines is a matter of concern.

Barring few impressive performances, a good number of athletes have struggled to live up to their usual high standards. The biggest disappointment of them all has been in shooting.

With a good number of shooters representing India in Tokyo, the discipline was expected to provide some medals for the country. However, Indian shooters have not been able to compete at the same level as their opponents.

Day four (Tuesday) was no exception, as it was another quiet day from India’s perspective. Boxer Lovlina Borgohain’s performance and men’s hockey team victory were the standout results of the day.
