India’s top squash player Saurav Ghosal will face James Willstrop of England in the Bronze medal match of men's singles at the CWG 2022.

India’s top squash player Saurav Ghosal will fight for the Bronze medal after going down to World no.2 Paul Coll in the semi-final of the Commonwealth Games. Saurav faced a tough draw against the the Kiwi star as he outclassed the Indian veteran by 11-9, 11-4, 11-1. World no.15 Saurav will now face James Willstrop of England in the Bronze medal play-off. Earlier, Saurav entered the Semis by defeating Scotland’s Greg Lobbon by 3-1. The Bengal-born player will partner with Dipika Pallikal Karthik in the mixed doubles event. The duo had clinched the silver medal at the Gold Coast in 2018.
Saurav has won multiple medals in the Asian Games, which includes one gold, one silver, and five bronze medals. He received the Arjuna Award in 2007 after bagging the bronze medal in the Asian Games 2006. In 2013, he became the first Indian to qualify for the semi-finals of the World Squash Championship organized in Manchester, England. Saurav achieved a career-high ranking of 10 in April 2019. Ghosal has won over 13 medals across major sports tournaments since turning professional in 2013. The 35-year-old was elected as the Men’s President of the Professional Squash Association in 2021.
