A 12-person Indian shooting team will compete at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Almaty 2023 in Kazakhstan starting on Saturday, May 20 under the direction of Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Shreyasi Singh, a former double trap Commonwealth Games champion. Italy’s Lonato will host the final stage before the ISSF World Championships begin in Doha in November. While Shreyasi Singh will be India’s best chance in the women’s trap, Mairaj Ahmad Khan will lead India’s challenge in skeetKhan qualified for the Olympics for the first time in 2016 as a skeet shooter from India. He came in ninth at the Olympics in Rio. He also made it to Tokyo for the Olympics, where he placed 25th.
Bhowneesh Mendiratta, the first Indian to win a quota spot for the Paris 2024 Olympics at the ISSF world championships last year, will also compete in men’s trap. Alongside Mendiratta, Prithviraj Tondaiman will compete. Tondaiman won the bronze medal in men’s trap at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Doha 2023 in March. More than 230 shooters from 41 different countries will participate in the individual and team competitions in Almaty. The final day of the ISSF World Cup Almaty is May 28. The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) is in charge of the ISSF World Cup, which is held annually in the Olympic shooting competitions.
On the ISSF’s YouTube channel, live streaming of the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Almaty 2023 will be available. It will start from 21 May. Only the finals of each competition will be broadcast live. No Indian TV channel will broadcast the event live. All skeet event finals as well as the men’s and women’s trap finals will be live-streamed on Olympics.com.
