Edmonton Oilers General Manager (GM) Ken Holland said the trade close is just a week away. As in 2013, chasing Deep players like Jared Smithson as Deadline’s big pickups seems like a thing of the past. These days, the team is focused on making a difference and recruiting superstars like Eric Carlson and Patrick Kane. Even if no such player exchanges were made, the fact that they are being considered is a testament to the team’s progress over the years. Still, Holland has a lot to do. Other teams in the league have already started charging to push for the playoffs. Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Ryan O’Reilly in a bold move, while the New York Rangers added more firepower with a trade for Vladimir Tarasenko.

High Price For Chychrun?

GM Ken Holland Is Under Pressure!

But the pressure on GMs is higher than ever. During the break between the Oilers and the Philadelphia Flyers on February 2. In November, Oiler’s color commentator Bob Stauffer pointed out to Sportsnet that Holland was well-paid for making tough decisions and it was time for him to make a trade. He doubled down on the show Oilers now on the 23rd, stating, “Indeed, it’s time to take action for the influential players. Most of the fans know how they feel and want to try. Additionally, the team’s star player recently expressed a desire for the GM to add an experienced pack mover to the back end. With only a week to go until the end, the Netherlands find themselves in the hot seat of the type of player they want to trade. Hockey insider Elliot Friedman revealed on Feb. 24 on the 32 Thoughts podcast. 13 The Oilers’ star players, perhaps McDavid and Drysitel, want a player who can effectively get the puck out of the defending zone rather than simply throwing it out of the glass, and to meet their needs. The best option available is a future hole. Carlson of the San Jose Sharks.

But despite the potential trade, Friedman’s recent words aren’t encouraging, saying the odds of Carlson going to the Oilers are “one in a million.” NHL insider Chris Johnston recently revealed that the former Norris Trophy winner is willing to waive his no-trade clause and move to Edmonton, but the defense’s hefty price tag is now the biggest obstacle. It’s happening, says Johnston. As such, the Edmonton deal is not a starter.
