The match between the Edmonton Oilers and Seattle Kraken will take place at the Rogers Arena (Vancouver) on Friday, October 6 at 10:00 PM ET.
The Edmonton Oilers will look to make the most of their final 60 minutes of pre-season hockey against the Seattle Kraken on Friday night at Rogers Place by gathering valuable feedback on some of the final roster decisions being debated, the new tactics that have been implemented throughout Training Camp, and how it will all blend together on Opening Night next week to contribute to a quick start to their regular season.
The Edmonton Oilers resume their regular-season schedule on Wednesday night at Rogers Arena, with the opening of a home-and-away series against the Vancouver Canucks. Coach Woodcroft has praised his team’s dedication during Training Camp and the preseason, from the club’s top players all the way down to the hopefuls vying for a roster spot, but admits that there is still work to be done – even after the Oilers make their final roster decisions in the coming days before the regular season begins on Oct. 11.
The Oilers still have 11 defensemen in camp, and tough choices on names like Ben Gleason, Vincent Desharnais, Philip Broberg, Markus Niemelainen, Phil Kemp, and Cam Dineen will have to be made in the coming days, with just two or three blueline slots to award on the roster.
Carrying so many defensemen this late in the preseason is a result of both injuries – most notably Mattias Ekholm, who hasn’t suited up for a preseason game – and some of them earning more opportunities to earn a roster spot with strong performances in exhibition games.
