All the way back to the day I gave the car keys to a group of teenagers named Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and Ryan Nugent Hopkins, a dynamic I never understood here in Edmonton. Back then, veterans were alienated and lost Ice Age because they made the mistakes kids make every night…and the team was like, well, it wasn’t that good. It wasn’t a team so there were a few elites and the rest were just “help”.

Today, Oiler’s drivers are much more elite. Players like Zach Hyman, Evander Kane, and Nugent Hopkins also gave the Oilers a Top 6. But as a “team”, Edmonton stalled. They become a bunch of high-end boys and can’t win unless the two big boys win.

Edmonton — Here in Edmonton, it’s a dynamic I couldn’t comprehend dating back to the time they handed the car keys to Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and his group of teens named Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Back then, veterans were alienated and lost the Ice Age because of the mistakes children make every night. And the team, well, it wasn’t that good.
