Who is voted as the NBCA coach of the year?

According to the report by Adrian Wojnarowski, Senior NBA Insider on ESPN Sacramento Kings’ coach, Mike Brown is voted NBCA (National Basketball Coaches Association) Coach of the Year. It is a no-brainer for him to win the award. The Kings have been out of the playoff games for 16 years, with the fact that Sacramento has ended the longest postseason drought among the four major sports leagues.

In Brown’s first season as the Kings’ head coach, the team posted a 48-34 record and earned the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference for the postseason. Also chosen were Mike Budenholzer of the Bucks, Mark Daigneault of the Thunder, Joe Mazzulla of the Celtics, and Tom Thibodeau of the Knicks.

Mike Brown is a big reason the Kings are having their finest season in nearly 20 years. Brown was selected Western Conference Coach of the Month for February for the first time since December 2009, and the sixth time in his coaching career. Brown joined the Kings after working as an assistant coach with the Warriors for six years.

NBCA Award is voted on by media members

Mike Budenholzer of the Bucks, Mark Daigneault of the Thunder, Joe Mazzulla of the Celtics, and Tom Thibodeau of the Knicks all earned votes. This award, named after veteran NBCA executive director Michael H. Goldberg, was launched in 2017 and is voted on by the NBA’s 30 head coaches, none of whom may vote for themselves.

It is not, however, the NBA’s official Coach of the Year award, which is voted on by media members and symbolized by the Red Auerbach Trophy. The award’s recipient will be revealed later this year. Monty Williams of the Suns has won the honor the previous two seasons.

Later in the playoffs, the NBA will announce the winner of the Coach of the Year award, which is based on media votes.
