The New York Knicks will head to the Thomas & Mack Center for an NBA Summer League matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers on July 11. Both teams are coming into the game on the back of stunning wins in their previous encounters.
The Knicks were up against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday. Quentin Grimes was the star on the night as he scored 24 points on 50% shooting from the field. Miles MacBride also contributed with 14 points and 6 assists. D. Jeffries came off the bench scoring 13 points and bagged 6 boards for the Knicks. The team from New York absolutely dominated the Bulls in all the departments. Their defense especially was stellar as they forced 21 turnovers on the Bulls and scored 35 points off them. Heading into their next game, the Knicks will be hoping to put up a similar performance as that will help make their way into the next round.
Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers are heading into the game after a stellar 85-68 win against the New Orleans Pelicans. Trendon Watford led the scorers for the Trail Blazers as he scored 17 points and bagged 11 boards on the night. Keon Johnson also showed up, scoring 12 points while Brandon Williams racked up 14 points on the night. The Trail Blazers contained the Pels to a mere 27.5% shooting from the field. Having secured one win and a loss in the Summer League, the Trail Blazers will be looking to secure a victory in this one as it will help increase their chances of going into the next phase in the tournament.
The Trail Blazers’ number seven pick from this year’s draft, Shaedon Sharpe suffered an injury in his debut at the Summer League. He is ruled out of the tournament as a precautionary measure. Other than him, there are no injuries that have been reported by both teams ahead of this game.
