NBA Report: Phoenix Suns defeat Dallas Mavericks

Suns rally deep into the fourth quarter by registering another win defeating Dallas Mavericks as they end their five game road trip.

The Phoenix Suns finished their five-game road trip 5-0 by winning another game in clutch time as they were in absolute destruction mode. The Suns have been a force in the Clutch time ever since Chris Paul arrived in Phoenix last season and it continued against the Dallas Mavericks as Suns won 109 – 101 at the American airlines Centre. Dallas was scoreless for the first 2:30 of the game as the Suns jumped ahead to a 5-0 start before Dallas got on the board. Mavericks fought back as they scored 13 points and we’re ahead of the Suns by two points at the first timeout. 

Dallas went to build the lead as the Suns missed 11 straight threes. Dallas were in lead by four points with the scoreline at 26-22 after the first quarter. Booker Scored 12 points and Doncic matched him scoring 11 points in the first quarter. 

The poor shooting night continued for the Suns from the three-point range unable to net the ball in on six attempts. Mavericks took advantage of it as they extended their lead to ten points with 4:30 remaining and the scoreline at 42 – 32. Suns then bounced back with eight straight points reducing the lead to two points. 

Doncic then had a five-point run-in three seconds as Dallas extend the lead to 8 points at the stroke of halftime. Luka Doncic was the top performer of the first half with 17 points, Devin Booker chipped in scoring 16 points.

Suns rally in the clutch time to beat Dallas

The Suns continued their poor shooting form on the night as the Mavericks continued their good run taking the lead to 12 points. 

Jae Crowder out of nowhere scored back to back three-pointers as he scored seven points in the first seven minutes of the 3rd quarter. Suns then rallied back with a quick 12-2 run to take the lead 69-68 as Dallas called for a timeout with over 4 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. 

Dallas then rallied back after the timeout and had a lead of 8 points at the end of the third quarter with the score line at 82-74. 

Chris Paul started the fourth quarter with a three-point jumper reducing the lead to five points. Jalen Brunson then scored four straight points as Dallas had an advantage of 12 points. 

The Suns stormed back into the game with a 9-0 run to take the lead 96-95. The Clock started running down and in the last five minutes Suns had a 22-6 run to close out the game 109 – 101 

Chris Paul was the star player of the game scoring 20 points, 11 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and one block.
