If LeBron wants to win another ring, he’ll have to do so with a new team. To take things a step further, perhaps LeBron could demand a trade. The Los Angeles Lakers are a team that is old, fragile, and inept. Their aging staff has hampered them to the point that they have fallen and are unable to stand. While it’s assumed that the organization would look into prospective Russell Westbrook moves, this appears to be a long shot. The Lakers’ season has been a complete disaster. They’re below.500, have a terrible defense and are frequently injured — all while LeBron James has continued to extend his peak, playing at an elite level in his 16th season.

LeBron James is now second in the NBA in scoring, averaging 29 points per game, 7.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.

However, LeBron’s seasons are defined solely by one thing: rings. The Lakers will not win a title as they are currently built. Westbrook’s erratic and rash performance makes it difficult for the Lakers to stay in games. The Lakers’ supporting cast has largely disappointed. Despite a first-round pick attached, Talen Horton-trade Tucker’s value has dropped.

How can LeBron win a championship this season if the Lakers can’t trade Westbrook and nobody wants THT? LeBron James may want a trade in order to improve his chances of winning a championship this year or next.

LeBron James trade options

Many clubs would put everything on the line to get LeBron James. Particularly those teams that would be transferring troubled assets in exchange. The Cavs have been one of the greatest shocks this year, so James could easily set up the third act in Cleaveland.

Kevin Love and Collin Sexton might be traded to the Lakers by the Cavaliers. Love’s deal expires the same summer as Westbrook’s, thus this would offer LA a young potential player in Sexton. The Cavs don’t want to pay Sexton, and the Lakers don’t have enough young to develop beyond Bron. This would be a win-win situation.

If Bron sought a trade to Philadelphia, it would be another appealing option. Ben Simmons might be returned to the Lakers if LeBron James is traded. A prospective LeBron and Joel Embiid pairing might be everything AD and LeBron could be, according to basketball aficionados.

When Bron considers the rest of the league, he realizes that even a healthy Los Angeles squad will not be able to contend for a title. While LeBron has demonstrated in many ways that he is more than an athlete and that his interests fit with those found in Los Angeles, he is still a basketball player carving out his legacy, and his legacy cannot develop if he is unable to compete.
