In their most recent encounter, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers thrashed the Orlando Magic. With a score of 123-110 in their favour, the 76ers easily won the game. Joel Embiid, the Sixers’ big man, was undoubtedly the show’s standout. Embiid scored 50 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out two assists in the game. The most impressive aspect of this statline is that Embiid only played 27 minutes in the contest. Joel garnered accolades from all across the world as a result of his outstanding performance. This isn’t the first time the Sixers’ centre has carried the team on his shoulders. In fact, in the absence of Ben Simmons, Embiid has taken on all of his team’s responsibilities this season.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old centre appears to be full of self-assurance. Tyrese Maxey, one of his teammates, recalled an amusing discussion he had with him before the game against the Magic. “A fan. I was a fan. It was amazing to watch…I was messing with him before the game, ‘Who are you going to be tonight? Shaq? Dirk?’ He was like, ‘I’m going to be Joel,'” he said.

Confident press conference

Embiid put on a show for the crowd, and he exuded confidence following his incredible performance. Joel claimed during the postgame press conference that he had the capacity to channel NBA legends at any time. “I said me because at times whenever I want, I’m able to be Shaq. And whenever I want, I’m also able to be Dirk or Kobe or MJ, guards really. Shooting off the dribble, pull-ups or ball-handling, just a combination of everything offensively. So, I was OK tonight.”

Against the Magic, Embiid did more than OK; he single-handedly demolished the team. The 76ers are now 26-18 after this win. However, because they play in the crowded Eastern Conference, their record only qualifies them for the conference’s fifth seed. The fact that the 76ers are only 2.5 games behind the first seed is fantastic news. To be honest, if Embiid continues to perform at this level, the club may be able to achieve the number one seed.

He is not lying when he claims to be able to channel NBA legends like Shaq, Kobe, MJ, and Dirk. Here’s a great video of Embiid getting shots close to the names he referenced before. The similarities between the moves are uncanny, and it’s one of the reasons Joel Embiid is such a dominant player in the NBA today. He can alter his game to meet the needs of his teammates.
