Lewis Hamilton continued to create history in Formula One. On Saturday, he became the first driver in the history of the sport to have secured 100 pole positions. The year 2021 promises to be a record-breaking year for Hamilton, who has already established himself as one of the greats in the sport. Hamilton is level on seven F1 championships, along with Michael Schumacher. He already has the most wins in the history of the sport and a successful 2021 could result in more records.

After getting to his 100th pole, the reactions felt by Lewis Hamilton summed up his mood. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel. But I’m excited that it was so close and it felt amazing. Qualifying is so special when you come across that line and you find out that you are just ahead, and you think ‘okay, how am I going to squeeze out more, will the other guys find a tenth or two or three on the next run, or not at all? It’s nerve-wracking. It’s such a big number that it’s hard to express just how amazing and crazy it is. I don’t really know what else to say,” Hamilton said.

After winning the Spanish Grand Prix, Hamilton is now on the cusp of breaking more records in the sport. This was his third win in 2021 and he looks set for glory.
