Red Bull driver Max Verstappen will have plenty of fans backing him in person come September at the Dutch GP. The organisers of theDutch Grand Prix confirmed on Friday that the race will go ahead as was initially planned. What’s more, the race will host a two-thirds capacity of fans for the GP. The remodelled Zandvoort track will see a Dutch driver racing on it and hopefully winning pole position. It is a race that Verstappen and Red Bull will look to take full advantage of. It has been a very long wait for The Netherlands to finally host a Grand Prix. The last time it happened was way back in 1985.

The track was set to host a race in the 2020 season itself. But that plan could not go ahead due to the deadly coronavirus pandemic. It was then scheduled to run as the second of the three races that are scheduled to be held in September. It will be held between the races at Spa (Belgian GP) and Monza (Italian GP). However, there was still the big question of whether fans would be allowed to attend the race in person. At the time of the decision, The Netherlands was not a place where the pandemic had slowed down.

Expect MASSIVE SUPPORT FOR VERSTAPPEN at Dutch GP

However, things have taken a turn for the better. The organisers of the Dutch GP have confirmed that there will be fans at the track come race day. Two-thirds capacity will be filled with fans and this news must be music to the ears of Red Bull. They will want to take full advantage of the support of the audience for their home racer Verstappen. It would be crucial for him to earn some big points in the race if he wants to beat Hamilton this season.

“For me, the glass is two-thirds full. We’re just going to do it. The three companies behind the Dutch Grand Prix, Circuit Zandvoort, SportVibes and TIG Sports, have decided to invest in the future of F1 in the Netherlands,” said former F1 driver and current Sporting Director of the event, Jan Lammers.

“The belief in the ambition to organise the biggest Ultimate Race Festival in the world remains the primary goal for the coming years. This year, admittedly in a smaller form, the battle for the World Championship will be fought in a beautiful orange ambiance in the stands,” Lammers added.
