The FIA World Touring Car Cup L’ANNEAU DU RHIN starts on Saturday, August 6 with one free practice and three qualifying events.
The FIA World Touring Car Cup, abbreviated to WTCR, is an international touring car championship promoted by Eurosport Events and sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). It has had different incarnations of a World Touring Car Cup held between 1993 and 1995. Following the 2017 season, an agreement was reached for the World Touring Car Championship to become WTCR and use the TCR technical regulations. With titles for drivers and teams only, the WTCR series changed to ‘World Cup’ rather than ‘World Championship’ status in 2018.
The Anneau du Rhin is a 3.621 km (2.250 mi) racing circuit situated near Biltzheim, France, about 35 km north of Mulhouse. The circuit was planned and built in 1996 by Marc Rinaldi on the site of a former hunting ground and is now managed by his son François Rinaldi. It is located 2 km southeast of the village of Biltzheim. In 2004, the route was extended with a western loop. The route was completely resurfaced in August 2011 and widened by one meter. Since 2013, there has been an option for motorcycles with a length of 3.7 km, which can be extended to up to 4 km if necessary.
The FIA World Touring Car Cup L’ANNEAU DU RHIN starts on Saturday with one free practice and three qualifying events. The FP1 starts at 13:00 pm IST and is followed by FP2 at 16:00 pm IST.
