Benson Henderson’s free agency has come to an end, as he is returning to Bellator to face Peter Queally on their upcoming Dublin show. In a recent piece, MMAFighting.com indicated that Henderson has re-signed with Bellator and that Queally will be his next opponent.

Queally stated at the time that he had signed up to fight a famous name, but he didn’t say who it was. He did, however, retweet the confirmation of the fight with Henderson later, looking to be pleased with the outcome.

Henderson hasn’t said anything about the fight yet, but he did confirm that he re-signed his contract by retweeting Bellator’s statement.

Queally was supposed to fight Kane Mousah on the previous Bellator Dublin card, however he was forced to withdraw due to an injury.

Since the news surfaced, Mousah has yet to comment on Queally accepting a new fight, but he has reshared a video from the most recent Dublin show.

Bellator’s programme for its upcoming return to Ireland is taking form. Benson Henderson, a former UFC champion and Bellator title contender, will now fight Peter Queally in a lightweight bout. Following an original report from The Irish Sun, MMA Junkie verified the bout.

Bellator Dublin is set to take place at 3Arena on September 23. It will be  Henderson’s first fight under his new multi-fight deal with the organisation which will take place in this match, which is also his first confirmed fight on Bellator. Queally and Sinead Kavanagh had been confirmed to be on the programme, but their opponents were still to be decided.

Henderson (29-11 MMA, 6-6 BMMA), 38, comes into this fight fresh off a stunning shock victory over Islam Mamedov by split decision at Bellator 273. The victory ended a three-fight losing streak for the former UFC lightweight champion, who had previously won four fights in a row.

Queally (13-6-1 MMA, 2-2 BMMA), 33, most recently fought Patricky Freire for the unclaimed lightweight championship at Bellator 270, but things did not go his way. The bout was a rematch of their first encounter at Bellator 258, which Queally won due to a doctor’s stoppage in the second round. Queally defeated Ryan Scope in the second round at Bellator 227 before the back-to-back bouts with Freire.
