The 5th match between SunRisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 witnessed a run flow at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Both the openers – Jos Buttler (35) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (20), captain Sanju Samson (55), Devdutt Padikkal (41) and a stunning cameo from Shimron Hetmyer (32) helped them put up a total of 210 runs as well.

Rajasthan Royals got off to a flying start

Put into bat, Rajasthan Royals got off to a flying start with Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal adding 58 runs within 6.1 overs. Both the openers took on every bowler and punished all over the park. However, it was Romario Shepherd who provided the first breakthrough by removing Jaiswal. It was short of a length delivery and Jaiswal went for the pull and hit it straight up but found Markram near the deep square leg who did no mistake. However, the opener smashed 2 fours and a six as well. Soon Jos Buttler too got out for 35.

Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal stabilized the ship in the middle-overs

Later, captain Sanju Samson (55 off 27) steadied the ship with Devdutt Padikkal (41 off 29), adding 73 runs. While Samson smashed 3 fours and 5 sixes, Padikkal hit 4 fours and 2 sixes in his stay in the middle. However, Umran Malik bowled a length delivery on the off and Padikkal tried to hit it down to the third man but the ball went through and smashed into off and middle stumps as well. Even Samson also got out after scoring fifty.

Later, Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag stabilized the ship with their quickfire cameos. They added another 44 runs before Hetmyer’s quickfire knock of 32 came to an end. However. T Natarajan removed both of them as Rajasthan managed to post 210 runs in their allotted 20 overs. For Hyderabad, Umran Malik and T Natarajan claimed two wickets each.
