RCB bowlers displayed a disciplined performance to restrict RR to 144/8 in the IPL 2022 clash at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Tuesday. 

Asked to bat, RR lost their top-order batters, Jos Buttler (8), Devdutt Padikkal (7) and Ravichandran Ashwin (17) inside the powerplay.

Sanju Samson-Riyan Parag show resilience 

However, unperturbed by the early blows, RR captain Sanju Samson played a cautious knock of 27 runs off 21 balls which included one boundary and three hits over the fence. 

Later, Daryl Mitchell, played a slow knock of 16 runs from 24 balls but young Riyan Parag (56 not out) held the fort for RR to hit a fine half-century. He, however, failed to find enough support from the other end. 

Parag hit three boundaries and four sixes in his 31-ball unbeaten cameo. 

Hazlewood-Hasaranga show for RCB

Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood continued to use his Test match experience to the fore as he returned figures of 2/19 while his spin bowling compatriot Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka scalped two wickets for 23 runs.
