The rags to riches story of the Pandya brothers — Krunal and Hardik — in an inspiring tale in itself. The brothers, from Vadodara, who loved the game overcame their financial odds and went on to represent the country to make a name for themselves. But even though that is the case, Krunal, still remains in the shadow of Hardik who has covered much more distance in his career.

However, Krunal, has made sure that he remains a regular feature in the Indian Premier League through his all-round prowess. He is a utility all-rounder who can chip in with a cameo and rake up wickets at regular intervals of time but still far away from a batter who can finish the game for his franchise.

Now consider the case of his effort for Lucknow Super Giants in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2022 on Tuesday: Krunal picked up a wicket and then notched up a brilliant knock of 42 runs off 28 deliveries but failed to help his side sail over the line. However, that been said, his regular contribution has made him a key feature in the T20 franchise cricket.

But there was a time, in 2019, when Krunal could hardly trust himself as he was shadowed by negative thoughts. That is exactly when a couple of books came to his rescue and brought out the best version of himself.

“In 2019, I felt there was a lot of negativity in my mind. Everyone goes through a phase where you start doubting yourself. I realised there are so many things in your head and I was trying to search for what I want and all that,” Krunal told espncricinfo.

Krunal Pandya took aid of ‘Power of Positive Thinking’

They say, ‘book can be a man’s best friend,’ and Krunal has lived through such moments to understand the statement better.

In his effort to overcome negativity, Krunal, took aid of the books ‘The Power of Positive Thinking by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale’ and ‘The Power of your subconscious mind by Joseph Murphy’.

The books not only helped him overcome negativity but also motivated him to develop a progressive thinking and go beyond the common notion of ‘this or that is unachievable or impossible to do’.

“I saw this book called Power of Positive Thinking. That book helped me, making me realise the mind is amazing, and suddenly my point of view was different. Then I read Power of Your Subconscious Mind,” Krunal said.

“Reading these books has helped me massively. Every individual thinks he has a barrier, where he can do the things that are controllable but outside that barrier it is impossible. But imagine if you take that barrier out and see the world with new eyes. That’s what has happened to me where I have removed that barrier and I can be among the best.”

And in the present day, at 31, he continues to work on himself and remains focused to his game.
