IPL 2022 CSK vs SRH: Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi fire SunRisers Hyderabad to comfortable eight-wicket victory

Abhishek Sharma (75) and Rahul Tripathi (39 not out) made merry of the CSK bowlers to chase down the modest target of 155 runs in 17.4 overs and eight wickets in hand to guide SRH to a comfortable victory in the IPL 2022 contest at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Saturday. 

Chasing the target, SRH looked in control of the proceedings from the onset, as Sharma and captain Kane Williamson (32) forged an opening stand of 89 runs. The prolific Kiwi opener hit two boundaries and one six in his cautious knock of 40 deliveries.

Abhishek Sharma plays a morale-boosting knock

Sharma, however, continued to be the aggressor and was well complimented by Tripathi who remained unbeaten in his 15-ball cameo. The duo were involved in a 56-run stand for the second wicket. 

The opener slammed five boundaries and three sixes in his match-winning knock while Tripathi hit five four and two sixes in his fine knock. 

Incoming batter Nicholas Pooran, meanwhile, had little task at his hand as he remained unbeaten on five runs off two deliveries which was laced with a four. 

CSK, on the contrary, toiled hard for wicket with Mukesh Choudhary and Dwayne Bravo picking up one wicket each. 

Moeen Ali fires for CSK vs SRH

Earlier, England all-rounder Moeen Ali (48) played an important cameo but some disciplined bowling performance from SRH restricted CSK to 154/7. 

Asked to bat, CSK openers Robin Uthappa (15) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (16), got their side off to a decent start. 

Later, incoming batter Ali, played a quick fire knock off 35 deliveries to change the momentum of the match in favour of CSK. He notched up three boundaries and two hits over the fence while missing out a half-century by two runs. 

Ali was involved in a crucial third wicket stand of 62 runs with Ambati Rayudu (27) who scored at run-a-ball with the help of four boundaries. 

All-rounder Shivam Dube (3) and former captain MS Dhoni (3), however, failed to add much to the team total. 

But captain Ravindra Jadeja (23) added some vital runs in the death overs to take his side to a respectable total. His 15-ball stay was laced with two boundaries and one hit over the fence. 

Washington Sundar and T Natarajan shine for SRH

SRH bowlers Washington Sundar (2/21) and T Natarajan (2/30) bowled well to keep the run scoring rate in check for CSK as they picked up wickets at regular interval of time. 

Young South Africa fast bowler Marco Jansen also picked up a wicket along side veteran India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
