Deep Grace Ekka is one of the prominent hockey players from India, who is known for her role as a defender for the women’s national team. Ekka was raised in the Sundergarh district of Odisha, in the village of Lulkidhi, where she was born to Charles and Jayamani Ekka on June 3, 1994. Her hockey career commenced at her school under the guidance of coach Tej Kumar Xess in 2005-06. She was handpicked during school selections to attend the Sports Authority of India’s SAI-SAG center in 2007, thus beginning her state-level play at the young age of 13. One of her biggest achievements was when she received the prestigious Arjuna Award for her contributions to the sport in 2022.
