Indian field hockey player Varun Kumar was born on July 25, 1995. He now plays defense for Punjab Warriors in the Hockey India League and for the Indian national team. Kumar is a resident of Dalhousie, District Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, and was born in Punjab. When Kumar was a student, he began playing hockey. In the 2012 Junior National Championships, Varun Kumar competed for his native state of Punjab. He performed admirably, gaining a call-up to the junior national squad. After suffering an injury shortly after the competition, Kumar was sidelined for two years. However, in 2014, he excelled at the Junior National Championships and was summoned back to the junior national squad.
Kumar was able to clinch a contract shortly after with the Hockey India League‘s Punjab Warriors. During the 2014 season, he was kept on. Following the season, he was signed to a two-year contract for the league’s 2015 and 2016 seasons. In the end, he took home a gold medal from the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. Varun Kumar has served as a junior representative for India. Prior to being called up to the Junior World Cup squad, he led India in scoring at the Four-Nations Invitational Tournament held in Spain.
