The Indian Hockey Team will play five matches against Australia in preparation for the forthcoming FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar-Rourkela 2023, which will commence on January 13, 2023. Hockey India has announced a 23-man squad for India’s forthcoming Tour of Australia, which will kick off on November 26, 2022 in Adelaide. These matches will serve as a litmus test for the team led by Harmanpreet Singh and vice-captained by Amit Rohidas ahead of the premier tournament in 2023. Team India have already departed for Adelaide from the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru for the five-match Series.
This will be the Indian men’s hockey team’s first tour since its trip to Argentina last year, and its first visit to Australia since May 2019. The Australian men’s hockey team is presently rated first in the world, while India is placed fifth. This will be their first meeting since the Commonwealth Games 2022 final, in which Australia defeated India to earn the gold medal. Indian Women’s hockey team will also play a Test series in Australia in May 2023. However, the exact dates for the same hasn’t been confirmed.

India will meet Australia in a five-match series beginning on November 26, 2022. They will play back-to-back matches on the 26th and 27th of November, followed by their third match on the 30th. Following a two-day break, the two teams will meet again on December 3rd and 4th. All games will take place at Adelaide’s Mate Stadium.
