Aditi Ashok is a professional golfer from Bengaluru, India, on the international stage, competing on the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour. She began her golf journey at the age of five under her father Ashok Gudlamani’s guidance, who later served as her caddie at the 2016 Olympics. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, her mother Maheshwari supported her as a caddie. A graduate of The Frank Anthony Public School in 2016, she was exposed to golf at the Karnataka Golf Association’s driving range.
She won her first professional tournament at 13 and secured the National Junior Championship for three straight years from 2012 to 2014, during which she simultaneously held junior and senior titles. She then went on to represent India in the Asian Youth Games, Youth Olympics, and Asian Games. After clinching the Ladies British Amateur Stroke Play Championship in 2015, Aditi turned professional in January 2016. She made history by becoming the youngest Indian golfer to win the Lalla Aicha Tour School, securing her Ladies European Tour card for the 2016 season, and becoming the youngest to win a Q School in any international tour.
Aditi’s breakthrough came with her victory at the 2016 Hero Women’s Indian Open, marking her as the first Indian winner on the Ladies European Tour. Her success continued with a win at the Qatar Ladies Open which resulted in her being named Rookie of the Year and obtaining an LPGA Tour card for 2017. As the second Indian after Simi Mehra to join the LPGA, Aditi finished 2017 in the top eight of the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year rankings. Her 2018 season included a career-best T6 at the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic and a career-low score at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
Aditi’s Olympic debut in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 saw her as the youngest golfer in the field, finishing in 41st place. She bettered this performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she finished an impressive fourth, besides some renowned Nelly Korda, and Lydia Ko. In 2023, Aditi registered victories in LET at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open and the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana. At the Asian Games 2022, she scripted history becoming the first Indian to win a medal in the women’s individual golf, i.e., the silver medal.
