Before the weather changed in the second round, Finau took the lead with a 62 and was outstanding in his bogey-free round of 68 on Saturday in the chilly weather.
Tony Finau built a four-shot lead on the back nine of the Cadence Bank Houston Open 2022 on November 13, 2022, and cruised to his third PGA Tour victory of the year. He finished the round with a 1-under 69 and won by four strokes despite three bogeys. Finau won just one of his first 185 tournaments on the PGA Tour. He currently has four victories in the previous 30 competitions, with three of those coming this year. Before the weather changed in the second round, Finau took the lead with a 62 and was outstanding in his bogey-free round of 68 on Saturday in the chilly weather.
On Sunday, nobody even had a chance to catch him. After shaking off some rust in a missed cut last week at Mayakoba, he ended at 16-under 264 and began the new season with a win, climbing to No. 12 in the world rankings. Tyson Alexander, a PGA Tour rookie, took the second spot. Alexander pulled out of a tie for second place with a 30-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to finish as the single runner-up through which he earned enough FedEx Cup points to ensure him a qualification for the post-season next summer. Ben Taylor finished third despite missing a 25-foot birdie attempt on the 18th hole for a 70.
